What are Platform games?
The original and still one of the best genres of games available.
Platform games are one of the oldest and most recognisable in the gaming world. Mario is usually the guy that springs to mind, but there are plenty of fantastic examples out there, including right here at Addicting Games. They often play out from a side-on perspective and can be as simple as leaping over obstacles or more complex with fighting, shooting, or even mining mechanics. First up, we've got Gem Frenzy. Here, your job is to collect various materials to craft them into beautiful, shining gems for your customers. These resources aren't conveniently found in your shop, though. Instead, you'll have to burrow deep into the earth in search of them, meaning it's a bit of a race to find what you need. If your customers have to wait too long, they'll take their business elsewhere. If you've ever played Worms, you'll know what to expect from Territory War. Except that, rather than sending wiggly worms into battle, you have an army of stickmen to fight for you. Taking it in turns, you'll use the various weapons and units at your disposal to take shots at your opponent. You can also build defences to keep your troops safe, which is important to remember. Sure, you might get a better shot by standing right next to them, but that makes you a sitting duck. And we don't want that. But if you're looking for something real-time and faster-paced in your platform games, give Electric Man 2 a try. It sees you thrust into a tournament with a bunch of other stickmen, all of whom want to beat you into the ground. Fortunately, you have the power of lightning in your fists, which will come in handy when dealing with the hordes of enemies. But remember, your more powerful moves use up a lot of energy, so make sure to keep that topped up.
